10 of My Favorite Books about Sex

Here we are in Week 2 of your month of Reading Bravely! This week I’m sharing a list of 10 of my favorite books about sex. The research is clear: having great sex in the context of your romantic relationship boosts relationship satisfaction by 15-20%, and feeling unhappy with your sex life drops your relationship satisfaction by a full 50-70% (Metz & McCarthy, 2010). It’s highly unlikely that what you learned in high school sex education gave you the tools you need (body, mind, and soul) to have great sex, and, while the porn industry is more than happy to fill your brain with images, you are far better served by picking up one of these excellent reads. Here’s to happy sex that connects us, heals us, and pleases us!

deBotton, Alain (2012). How to Think More about Sex.

Hardy, Janet W. & Easton, Dossie (2017). The Ethical Slut, Third Edition: A Practical Guide to Polyamory, Open Relationships, and Other Freedoms in Sex and Love.

Joannides, Paul (2017). Guide to Getting it On: Unzipped.

Kerner, Ian (2010). She comes first: A Thinking Man’s Guide to Pleasuring a Woman.

Moore, Thomas (1999). The Soul of Sex: Cultivating Life as an Act of Love.
